What is a phrasal verb?

 

A phrasal verb is created by joining a verb with another 1-2 words, different meanings are created via this new combination.

 

Examples:

 

Break down - become sad.

Lily broke down and cried.

 

Dress up - to put on nice clothes to look better than usual.

Tommy dresses up for the big party.

 

Find out - discover something

Jonny found out his mother can speak Spanish.

Phrasal verb!

She dressed up.
