What is a proverb???
Proverbs are like idioms.
Proverbs are "sayings" that you use to express wisdom or truth, it can also be used when giving advice:
Example:
A picture paints a thousand words.
Means that through one picture, a story can be told instantly, instead of using lots of word to describe.
Person A : "This photograph is so nice! Now I understand why everyone says this place is beautiful!"
Person B: "A picture paints a thousand words!"
Better safe than sorry.
Means that it is better to prepare well and consider your decision then to suffer later.
Person A "I have so much to prepare for my sky-diving lesson!"
Person B "Better safe than sorry!"
Crime doesn't pay.
Means that criminal will be punished for their crimes and these crimes they commit will not benefit them.
Person A "So the thief who stole my money was caught and was heavily punished."
Person B "Crime doesn't pay!"
